What influenced your decision to do a banking internship?
I've always been interested in banking, and it's a great way to get your foot in the door. FNB of Gordon is unique in the way you get to see every aspect of the banking world. What has been the most beneficial part of your internship? The most beneficial parts of this internship are the connections I've made and the amount of experience I've gained through this. This internship has also helped me to focus on the career I want to pursue. What areas of banking did you focus on in your internship? Is this something you want to continue doing in the future? I mainly focused on helping with loans and the loan department during my internship; this is something I want to pursue in the future, and I’m hoping to one day become a loan officer. The experience I gained here was very valuable, and I learned from some of the best! How has this internship grown your interest in the banking career path? This internship has grown my interest in banking by experiencing firsthand day-to-day operations in banking. This internship has been so valuable, and I've gained more knowledge and experience than I could have imagined. What is the most important thing you have learned through your internship? The most important thing I have learned is the importance of experience and how beneficial it is to be a "jack-of-all-trades." Do you think this internship will help you in your future? If so, how? I do think this internship will benefit me greatly in the future from all of the knowledge and connections I’ve gained. What would you say to someone who is considering a banking internship? The advice I would give to someone considering an internship would be to keep an open mind, be flexible and ready to do any task thrown at you. The experience you gain is priceless, and it's an awesome opportunity. Anything else you would like to add? I would like to thank everyone at FNB of Gordon for the countless opportunities they gave me and for all of the wonderful connections I've made.
What influenced your decision to do a banking internship?
All of the financial classes that relate to the lending side of agriculture have really clicked with me for some reason, and it seems like a great career field to get in to. What has been the most beneficial part of your internship? The connections that I have gotten to make this summer will be useful for any career path that I will choose in the future. What areas of banking did you focus on in your internship? Is this something you want to continue doing in the future? I got to see nearly every aspect of the bank through the summer, primarily focusing on the lending side. I could see myself doing this in the future. How has this internship grown your interest in the banking career path? It answered a lot of questions that I had about the banking industry in general and created new questions that were answered by bank employees and that allowed for me to keep interest in this career path. What is the most important thing you have learned through your internship? I think that the idea that customer service needs to be at the top of the priority list because if your customer service is bad, you may not have a job for a very long time. Do you think this internship will help you in your future? If so, how? Based on the connections that I have made this summer, I think that will be the thing that will help me out the most in my future. What would you say to someone who is considering a banking internship? Take advantage of getting to see all the different parts of the bank; it will help you better understand how all the parts can work together to make the bank function properly. |
