NBA Foundation
Formed in 1990, the Nebraska Bankers Association Foundation (NBAF) is the philanthropic arm of the NBA. Originally founded to provide scholarships and higher education support, the NBAF has expanded to include a human trafficking prevention fund, financial literacy efforts recognition for our members, a robbery reward fund, a Trailblazer Award for women in banking and natural disaster relief efforts.
The NBAF strives to have a positive impact on our state and the banking industry. Our initiatives reward, educate and inspire current and potential bankers while fostering increased community support.

In addition to the scholarships mentioned above, the NBA Foundation also collaborates with the University of Nebraska Foundation to allocate funds to the four University of Nebraska campuses (UNL, UNK, UNO and UNMC). These funds may be used for scholarships, professorships, equipment purchases and other academic activities.
HALT Human Trafficking Fund
The HALT Human Trafficking Fund was created to combat the rising incidences of human trafficking in Nebraska. The NBA, in collaboration with Nebraska banks and other stakeholders, seeks to stop human trafficking before it starts. With members located in communities across Nebraska, we are uniquely positioned to bring awareness, education and action to the fight against human trafficking.
The goal of the HALT Fund is to provide financial support to nonprofit and local government organizations working to eliminate human trafficking in Nebraska. Contributions are tax-deductible and will be used toward education, data initiatives and technology advancements to help prevent trafficking.

Financial Literacy
Nebraska bankers are dedicated to improving the financial literacy of communities throughout the state. The Leaders in Financial Education (LiFE) Awards program recognizes Nebraska banks and bankers who lead efforts to promote financial education. There are four categories in the LiFE Awards:
- LiFE Honors List
- Bank Innovation Award
- Presentation Award
- Career Award
Robbery Reward Fund
The NBA manages a statewide robbery reward program designed to solicit information that leads to the apprehension of a suspected robber of an FDIC-insured financial institution in Nebraska. All rewards to informants are paid through Crime Stoppers or the FBI.
Alice Dittman Trailblazer Award for Women in Banking
In honor of Alice Dittman, the NBA established the Alice Dittman Trailblazer Award for Women in Banking. The first award was presented at the 2024 Women in Banking Conference. The award pays homage to a young woman in banking who exemplifies Alice's spirit of leadership, service and positive impact. Nominees are evaluated based on their contributions to and impact on their bank, leadership and service to their community and their commitment to the banking industry and the NBA.
Disaster Relief Efforts
The NBA Foundation distributes disaster relief payments to financial institution employees, as well as individuals and/or businesses living or located in an area where a disaster has been declared by local, state or federal government officials.
The Nebraska Bankers Association and NBA Foundation do not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, sex, age, religion, national origin, or physical or mental limitations.
