The Nebraska Bankers Association recognized David and Ann Bruntz of Friend with the 2023 NBA Agribusiness Recognition Award. The award has been presented each year since 1983 to individuals who have made significant contributions to the state of Nebraska and its agricultural industry. The presentation was made during the NBA’s Fall Agribusiness Conference in Lincoln. David hails from a family farm in Friend, while Ann grew up on a ranch near Stuart. After graduating from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture, they established Bruntz Farming & Feeding, Inc. near Friend. Both David and Ann have championed agriculture at the local, state and national levels. David has served as chairman of the Nebraska Corn Board, president of Nebraska Cattlemen, regional vice president of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and as a member of the U.S. Meat Export Federation Executive Committee. Ann’s leadership roles include chairman of the Nebraska Beef Council, president of the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Foundation Board and president of the Nebraska Cattlewomen. She also worked as a fundraiser for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska Foundation. Together, they established the Beef Industry Scholars Scholarship in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the Bruntz Family Award for Teaching at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture. Both David and Ann promoted agriculture through trade missions in several countries. The NBA is proud to recognize David and Ann Bruntz for their outstanding contributions to Nebraska's agriculture and their unwavering community service.
