LiFE Awards

The Leaders in Financial Education (LiFE) program honors Nebraska banks and bankers who lead efforts in their communities to promote financial education. These awards are open to all member banks within the Nebraska Bankers Association.

Each year's awards application will cover financial education or programs initiated or ongoing by banks during the previous calendar year. Please use the sign-up form if you would like to stay current on news, deadlines and other information relating to the LiFE Awards.

LiFE Honors List

​Banks that meet at least seven of the criteria below will be named to the LiFE Honors List.

• Hosts financial literacy information on bank's website
• Shares financial literacy information via bank's social media
• Sponsors an online financial literacy platform
• Operates an in-school bank
• K-12 targeted presentation(s)
• Adult-targeted presentation(s)
• Elder financial exploitation presentation(s)​
• Hosted at least one intern
• Hosted at least one job shadow

• Made at least 5 financial literacy presentations (applies to deposit size of $100 million or less as of Sept. 30, 2024)
• Made at least 15 financial literacy presentations (applies to deposit size of $101 to 350 million as of Sept. 30, 2024)
• Made at least 25 or more financial literacy presentations (applies to deposit size of $351 million or more as of Sept. 30, 2024)
• ​Bank-sponsored or developed curriculum

Bank Innovation Award

This award is presented to a bank who implemented an innovative way to improve financial literacy.

Get Smart About Credit, Teach Children to Save and General Presentations

Three banks, one from each deposit size category below, are eligible for this award. This will be based on the number of Get Smart About Credit, Teach Children to Save and other financial literacy presentations given by a bank. 

Deposit Size Categories:

• $100 million or less
• $101 to 350 million
• $351 million or more​

Career Award

This award is presented to a banker who has been a valuable asset to leading the bank's financial literacy efforts for at least five years. A bank president, CEO or a banker in a management position must be the one to nominate a banker for the Career Award.

​This award may not be given every year. Individuals may win this award only once.​
