What influenced your decision to do a banking internship?
I didn't know what I wanted to do when I graduated so I figured working in a bank would allow me to see and gain an understanding of different areas in business. What has been the most beneficial part of your internship? The most beneficial part of my internship has been working with lenders and seeing how businesses throughout the community work. What areas of banking did you focus on in your internship? Is this something you want to continue doing in the future? I have spent a lot of time working with lenders, especially in the ag department, and I would definitely continue doing this in the future. How has this internship grown your interest in the banking career path? Getting to know other employees and seeing how much they love their job is what has increased my interest in a banking career. What is the most important thing you have learned through your internship? I would say the most important thing I have learned is it is ok to not understand everything when coming into a new job. I had been given the opportunity to work alongside a lot of new employees over the summer, and it surprised me how many had the same questions that I did. Do you think this internship will help you in your future? If so, how? Definitely, a lot of the information and skills I have learned from working at Platte Valley can be used almost anywhere in business. What would you say to someone who is considering a banking internship? Don't treat it like a job, treat it as a learning opportunity. Ask questions and try to get involved with as much as you can because the more you learn now, the less you have to learn later. Comments are closed.
