What influenced your decision to do a banking internship?
I have always enjoyed farming and ranching so I wanted to find an internship where I could work with farmers and ranchers every day. In my banking internship I can interact and help farmers and ranchers every day. What has been the most beneficial part of your internship? The most beneficial part of my internship is learning how money moves in the bank and how important relationships are for a bank. Creating great relationships is important to ensure customers are happy and willing to tell other people about the bank. What areas of banking did you focus on in your internship? Is this something you want to continue doing in the future? During my internship I got to experience all aspects of banking. I got to sit it on loan closing, create loans, and even go on a few farm visits. I am enjoying my internship and it is something I would like to continue in the future. How has this internship grown your interest in the banking career path? It is has grown my interest because of how much you get to interact with customers. I grew up on a ranch so being able to help farmers and ranchers every day is something that means a lot to me. What is the most important thing you have learned through your internship? The most important thing I have learned during my internship is that the best bankers know how to handle risk. The other thing is that relationships are the most important thing to customers. Do you think this internship will help you in your future? If so, how? Yes, during my internship I have learned a lot. My internship was very helpful in learning everything that lenders go through to help customers’ needs and how they market the bank to bring in new customers. There are many aspects to banking and the internship was beneficial for learning how they work. What would you say to someone who is considering a banking internship? There are many aspects to banking, and they are all very important to keep a bank sharp. Interning at a bank would be very beneficial to anyone even if you are not planning to go down that path.
