Allen Chaffee, Cornhusker Bank | Lincoln, has been named to the YMCA of Greater Omaha's board of directors. He is the market president and vice president/director of market development at the bank.

Great Plains State Bank | O'Neill, held a groundbreaking ceremony on March 27 for a new branch at the corner of 7th and Douglas Streets in O'Neill. (pictured)

Heartland Bank | Geneva, celebrated their 125th anniversary on March 27. Each branch hosted a "Birthday Bash" with refreshments, games and raffles.

Midwest Bank | Norfolk, hosted a Red Cross blood drive on March 29.

Retirements

Mike Gatzemeyer, CharterWest Bank | Pender, retired at the end of the month. The bank held an open house on March 28 to wish him well.

Brooks Larson, First Northeast Bank of Nebraska | Lyons, retired at the end of March. He was the CEO of the bank. An open house was held to celebrate his retirement.

Jeff Noble, Cornerstone Bank | Albion, retired at the end of March after 33 years with the bank. He served as the insurance manager. The bank held a retirement open house on March 29 to celebrate.

Marilyn Reed, Security First Bank | Hay Springs, retired at the end of March after a 35-year career in banking.

Deaths

Milan "Mike" Barrett (age 72) | Beatrice, passed away on March 25. He had previously worked at First Tri-County Bank in Swanton from 2002 until his retirement as a senior vice president in 2017.

Merrill Hale (age 65) | Papillion, passed away on March 24. He had previously worked as a loan officer at Dakota County State Bank, now F&M Bank, in South Sioux City for many years.

Virginia “Ginger” Nissen, (age 92) | Lincoln, passed away on March 23. She was the wife of 1989 NBA Past Chair Jim Nissen.
