Banks in the News

Bank of the Valley and Great Plains State Bank | Columbus, and other local businesses sponsored the Platte County Extension Imagine Now! STEAM and Nebraska Extension (I.N.S.A.N.E.) event on Dec. 7-9. Over 1,200 students from the Columbus area participated in the event, which featured STEM-related stations on buoyancy, chemistry, engineering and electricity.

Citizens State Bank | Friend, Laurel, Leigh, Newman Grove, Papillion, Plattsmouth, Spalding, West Point and Wisner, donated a total of $5,000 to local organizations, with each organization receiving $500.

F&M Bank | West Point, donated $1,200 to the Siouxland area Alzheimer's Association. The funds were raised through employee donations for "jeans Fridays" and a donation match provided by the bank. (pictured)

Horizon Bank | Superior, donated $3,726 to Superior Public Schools for the school's track fund.

RVR Bank | Blair, donated $20,000 to the Blair YMCA. (pictured)

Waypoint Bank | Cambridge, donated $1,000 to the local Lion's Club to help local families in need. (pictured)

Retirements

Peggy Jensen, State Bank of Scotia | Scotia, retired at the end of 2023 after over 40 years with the bank. The bank held an open house on Dec. 29 to celebrate. Peggy was the senior vice president of operations and will continue to serve as a director of the bank.

Galen and Kathy Larson, Platte Valley Bank | Scottsbluff, will retire on Jan. 5. Both have been with the bank since Platte Valley Companies was founded in 1986. Galen served as a senior credit officer and ag lending department manager. Kathy has been the commercial operations supervisor.

Chris Markham, Columbus Bank & Trust Co. | Columbus, retired after 38 years with the bank. She served as a vice president and compliance officer. (pictured)

Angie Muhleisen, Union Bank & Trust Co. | has stepped down as the bank's president and CEO. She will remain on the bank's board of directors and as a member of the executive team.

Marie Schmit, Bank of Steinauer | Steinauer, retired at the end of the year after nearly 48 years with the bank. The bank held a retirement celebration on Dec. 29. (pictured)

Chrystal Wright, State Bank of Scotia | Scotia, retired at the end of 2023 after over 40 years with the bank. She was a cashier. The bank held an open house on Dec. 29 to celebrate.
