Bank of the West and First National Bank of Omaha | Alliance, employees helped pack food items in reusable bags during the United Way of Western Nebraska's Fighting Hunger in the Community event on Oct. 4 in Alliance. Cornerstone Bank | York, opened an in-school savings bank at York Elementary School on Oct. 6. The bank also recently hosted a Careers in Ag Day for area high school students. The event introduced students to the wide variety of careers available in the ag industry. Additionally, the bank sponsored this year's York County Agricultural Hall of Fame awards, held on Oct. 9. The event is a fundraiser for the Mid-Plains United Way, which in turn collaborated with the bank to fund 12 local agencies and nonprofits this year. First National Bank of Omaha | Scottsbluff, donated $25,000 to the Regional West Foundation to help fund the purchase of the Varian Edge linear accelerator for the Cancer Treatment Center. First National Bank of Omaha | Wayne, employees recently organized a community garage sale, with proceeds benefitting Haven House in Wayne. The event raised $700, all of which will help Have House purchase items that are unable to be funded through grants. Lincoln Federal Savings Bank | Lincoln, hosted a class from Lux Middle School, in partnership with Junior Achievement of Lincoln, to share information about careers in banking, including a Q&A with bank employees. NebraskaLand Bank | North Platte, provided, prepared and served the meal at the Gift of Hope Cancer Foundation's annual fundraiser banquet on Sept. 27. Stanton State Bank | Stanton, recently marked its 140th anniversary of service to the community. Since its opening in 1882 as Citizens Bank, the bank has remained in the Eberly family for five generations. Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. | North Platte, recently donated $15,000 to the North Platte Area Habitat for Humanity to help fund new homes in the Buffalo School Neighborhood project. Western Nebraska Bank | North Platte, and other local businesses sponsored the North Platte Canteen Festival on Oct. 8-9.
