Banks in the News

Bruning Bank, FirsTier Bank and Lincoln Federal Savings Bank | Holdrege, and First State Bank of Loomis | Loomis, and other local businesses helped sponsor the Holdrege FFA chapter’s Farm Safety Camp for over 140 Phelps County kindergarten and first-grade students on Sept. 18.

Brunswick State Bank | Magnet, opened a new branch at 215 Main Street in Magnet.

First Interstate Bank and Tri-County Bank | O’Neill, and other local businesses helped sponsor the Holt/Boyd Out of the Darkness Community Walk on Sept. 21. The fundraising event, hosted by the Nebraska chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, supports education, research and support for survivors of suicide loss.

Midwest Bank | Deshler, donated $933 to the Deshler Public Schools athletic department for ace serves, touchdowns and three-pointers completed by both the boys’ and girls’ teams during the 2023-2024 season.

Security Bank | Osmond, opened an in-school savings bank at Osmond Elementary School on Sept. 18.

Deaths

Eldon Evers (age 92) | Bridgeport, passed away on Sept. 7. He spent most of his career in banking, including serving as a director of the Abbott Bank and positions with Syracuse Bank in Syracuse, National Bank of Commerce in Lincoln and Wells Fargo in Bridgeport, until his retirement in 2004. He also served in the U.S. Army for two years.
