STEAM and Nebraska Extension (I.N.S.A.N.E.) event on Dec. 7-9. Over 1,200 students from the Columbus area participated in the event, which featured STEM-related stations on buoyancy, chemistry, engineering and electricity. Citizens State Bank | Friend, Laurel, Leigh, Newman Grove, Papillion, Plattsmouth, Spalding, West Point and Wisner, donated a total of $5,000 to local organizations, with each organization receiving $500. F&M Bank | West Point, donated $1,200 to the Siouxland area Alzheimer's Association. The funds were raised through employee donations for "jeans Fridays" and a donation match provided by the bank. The bank held an open house on Dec. 29 to celebrate. Peggy was the senior vice president of operations and will continue to serve as a director of the bank. Galen and Kathy Larson, Platte Valley Bank | Scottsbluff, will retire on Jan. 5. Both have been with the bank since Platte Valley Companies was founded in 1986. Galen served as a senior credit officer and ag lending department manager. Kathy has been the commercial operations supervisor. Chris Markham, Columbus Bank & Trust Co. | Columbus, retired after 38 years with the bank. She served as a vice president and compliance officer. Marie Schmit, Bank of Steinauer | Steinauer, retired at the end of the year after nearly 48 years with the bank. The bank held a retirement celebration on Dec. 29. MNB Bank | McCook, raised $1,510 through a bake sale and donated the proceeds to the Adopt-A-Chaplain program, which sends packages overseas to U.S. troops.
