Core Bank | Omaha, participated in the Special Olympics Nebraska's Polar Plunge on Feb. 11. The bank's 72-person team, "Here Comes Trouble," raised a total of $29,500 for the Special Olympics Nebraska from their event donations, a recent chili cook-off and Valentine's Day candygrams. (pictured)

Homestead Bank | Howells and Schulyer, received the "Friend of 4-H" award during the Colfax County 4-H Council's annual Volunteer Banquet on Jan. 29. The bank received the honor for its generous support of the Colfax County 4-H program through sponsorships and volunteer hours.

i3 Bank | Bennington, celebrated its 95th anniversary of service on Feb. 6. The bank's insurance company will celebrate six years in business on Feb. 16.

David Hartman, Core Bank | Omaha, was elected to the Metro Omaha Builders Association's (MOBA) board of directors for 2023. He is a senior vice president, real estate lending at the bank. MOBA is a nonprofit that promotes and protects the home building industry.

Miranda Soulliere, Union Bank & Trust Co. | Lincoln, was recently named to the 2023 board of directors for the Friendship Home in Lincoln. She is a vice president, business development manager at the bank. Friendship Home works to support, shelter and advocate for survivors of domestic violence and their children.

Cornerstone Bank | York, is hosting the "On the Road Again" University of Nebraska-Lincoln Sheldon Statewide Exhibition artwork at the bank from Feb. 6 to March 2.

First State Bank Nebraska | Lincoln, hosted a fundraiser for volunteer firefighters who battled the southeast Nebraska wildfires last fall. The event raised over $60,000, including $25,000 donated by the bank, which will be split among 31 fire departments. (pictured)

Great Plains State Bank | Columbus, was named to Fortune and Forbes magazines' "Best in Banking" lists for Nebraska in the December 2022 issues.

Core Bank | Omaha, recently awarded its Community Impact Award to Omaha Bridges Out of Poverty with a gift of $5,000. Omaha Bridges is a program that teaches individuals how to break the cycle of poverty.

Giltner State Bank | Giltner, celebrated its 10th anniversary with an open house on Jan. 23. The branch, which opened on Jan. 22, 2023, is a division of Henderson State Bank.

Horizon Bank | Waverly, recently donated $12,500 to Waverly's Foundation for Education Viking support fund to help support families in the local school district. Leonard Hassenstab (age 96) | Humphrey, passed away on Jan. 27. He served in WWII before beginning his banking career in 1950 at Farmers State Bank (now Nebraska Bank) in Humphrey, eventually becoming the bank's owner until he sold it in 2016. The NBA honored Leonard for 50 years of service to the banking industry in 2000. (pictured)

Lelan Thieszen (age 85) | Henderson, passed away on Jan. 27. After moving his insurance agency into Henderson State Bank, he worked as a loan officer at the bank for 44 years until his retirement in 2006. (pictured)
