Platte Valley Bank | Scottsbluff, has completed its merger with Potter State Bank, and the branches in Kimball and Potter will be renamed as Platte Valley Bank this summer. The merger also includes joining each bank’s insurance services under J.G. Elliott Insurance Center.
 
Security First Bank | Crawford, donated $500 to the local food pantry as part of the bank’s “Feeding Hearts” food drive.

Retirements

Linda Pelc, Midwest Bank | Norfolk, will retire at the end of March. She is an assistant vice president, treasury services. The bank will host a party on March 27 to celebrate.

Deaths

John Ferguson (age 85) | Springfield, MO, passed away on March 9. He had previously lived and worked in Marquette, NE, for five decades at the Bank of Marquette, now Cornerstone Bank, until his retirement in 2014. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
 
Joel Wiens (age 96) | Cheyenne, WY, passed away on March 8. His banking career began in 1963 with the purchase of First State Bank in Kimball, NE. Later he served at FirsTier Bank in Kimball.
