Promontory Network members can also use CDARS to help manage interest-rate risk or to purchase cost-effective wholesale funds without collateralization.
As a relationship-building tool, banks can use CDARS to offer customers: 1) Sa fety: Deposits are eligible for multi-million-dollar FDIC insurance coverage; 2) Convenience: With CDARS, customers manage one relationship, earn one rate per maturity, and receive one regular account statement; 3) Rate: Customers earn CD-level returns that may compare favorably with other investment alternatives, including Treasuries, repo accounts, and money market mutual funds. When a bank places a customer's deposit using the CDARS service, that deposit is divided into amounts under the standard FDIC insurance maximum and placed with other members of the Network, making the amount placed eligible for FDIC insurance coverage. In return, the originating institution receives either matching deposits or fee income. Promontory Network members can also use CDARS to help manage interest-rate risk or to purchase cost-effective wholesale funds without collateralization.
As a relationship-building tool, banks can use CDARS to offer customers: 1) Safety: Deposits are eligible for multi-million-dollar FDIC insurance coverage; 2) Convenience: With CDARS, customers manage one relationship, earn one rate per maturity, and receive one regular account statement; 3) Rate: Customers earn CD-level returns that may compare favorably with other investment alternatives, including Treasuries, repo accounts, and money market mutual funds. When a bank places a customer's deposit using the CDARS service, that deposit is divided into amounts under the standard FDIC insurance maximum and placed with other members of the Network, making the amount placed eligible for FDIC insurance coverage. In return, the originating institution receives either matching deposits or fee income.
