Banking today is a complex, highly regulated industry. It’s no wonder that questions on legal and other compliance matters arise from time to time. To assist bankers with general legal and regulatory questions, the Nebraska Bankers Association’s attorneys are available to discuss bank-related legal and compliance questions.
Specifically, the NBA legal department can answer routine questions arising from day-to-day bank operations or discuss the need for legislation to clarify confusing points of law. This service is not intended to be a substitute for a bank’s legal counsel. If legal advice or other professional assistance is required, bankers are advised to consult with their own legal counsel.
The NBA also provides legal assistance to the banking industry through the filing of “friend of the court” briefs on court actions that could affect a large number of banks across the state. In addition, the NBA monitors court decisions affecting the banking industry and provides summaries of significant case law in the association’s regular publications.
If you are a member of the NBA, you can also access member-only information on our site, such as information pertaining to new and proposed regulations as well as helpful compliance-related links. Additionally, those members who also subscribe to the NBA Compliance Handbook have access through this site for easy reference.
